ABOUT OUR FIRM

For over 30 years we have been defending the people of Manchester and we deal with every type of case in the Magistrates and Crown Court. For minor road traffic offences to the most serious matters involving commercial fraud and violence, we can safely say that we have dealt, over the years, with everything. We pride ourselves on being a particularly pro-active firm when it comes to dealing with the Police and the Crown Prosecution Service and we have a very high success rate at trial level in both the Magistrates and Crown Courts.

We provide a complete service from attending at a Police Station through appearances at the Magistrate Court and the Crown Court.

Within the firm there is also a dedicated Crown Court Department that deals with the preparation of the more complex and serious cases prior to the an appearance before a Judge and Jury.

Whilst most of our cases are heard at Stockport and Manchester Magistrates Courts we can offer representation anywhere in the North West and, for cases further afield, we have a number of local agents available for instruction.

Most of our cases are dealt with on legal aid but for those clients not eligible we provide a private service and fees are available on request.

Situated five minutes walk from Stockport Magistrates Court and Police Station and ten minutes from the railway and bus station in a building that once was the historic public house “The Land O’ Cakes,” our offices have been designed by the present partners and retain many of the original Victorian features.

Appointments are generally from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday but these times are flexible and can be changed on request.

ABOUT THE SOLICITORS
Our Magistrates Court team consists of: David Jones (Director), Neville Warburton (Director), Steven McHugh, Shane O’Neill, Gayle Shalom and Patsy Spencer (associate solicitors).

David Jones, Neville Warburton, Steven McHugh, Shane O’Neill and Gayle Shalom are also duty solicitors on call at Stockport Police Stations and Court.

ABOUT OUR CROWN COURT TEAM
Our Crown Court team consists of Michelle Wyatt, Jenny Barr and Angela Shelmerdine.

ADMINISTRATION/RECEPTION
Beverley Travis is our Office Manager. She has had experience in every aspect of a solicitors practice and its day to day running. Having employed her skills in secretarial and clerkship capacities for this firm over a period of 13 years she is ideally placed to oversee the smooth running of our administration (she’s the one behind the huge pile of paperwork).

Lynne, Ruth and Karen are the front line of our operation and are likely to be the first people a new client will meet. They will be available during the day to answer immediate queries and/or point clients in the right direction to have unexpected problems resolved. When making an appointment help them to help you by giving them some idea of the kind of case that involves you. They can then make the most appropriate choice of solicitor if you are in any doubt.

SECRETARIAL
Linda, Nicola, Ceri and Muriel provide our secretarial services and are available to answer clients queries in the absence of solicitors (we spend a lot of time at Court after all).

ACCOUNTS
Available on Thursdays to answer any financial queries regarding fees, bills and disbursements, Marion Haigh has great experience of solicitors practices and the problems faced by clients when talking about money matters.

This means that we have been recognised as having particular expertise in all areas of criminal law. We are, in fact, the biggest provider of criminal legal aid services in the Stockport and Tameside area.
